Ziyue (Siyana) Zhang
My research interests lie at the intersection of synthetic chemistry and intelligent technologies. Trained as a synthetic organic chemist, I combine experience in reaction development, optimization and natural product modification with self-initiated exploration of data-assisted synthesis planning. I enjoy integrating experimental chemistry with computational thinking to develop more intelligent and efficient approaches to chemistry.

Designing pleuromutilin derivatives through C14 side-chain modification and scaffold editing for agricultural antibacterial applications, alongside an exploratory study of constraint-aware synthesis planning.

Developed a sequential solvent-free Michaelis–Arbuzov rearrangement platform, prepared fluorinated variants, and evaluated their performance under standardized Mitsunobu conditions.

Contributed to the design, synthesis, and characterization of pyrazole-4-carboxamide and aromatic carboxamide derivatives, while gaining initial experience with molecular docking and related computational methods.

Contributed to shortening the longest linear sequence from 12 steps to 7, developed one-pot operations, explored photocatalytic and microchannel-flow conditions, and achieved kilogram-scale production. Related results are under patent application.

Developed chiral HPLC analysis and preparative HPLC separation to isolate four stereoisomers, with structural confirmation by ¹H/¹³C NMR.

Led collaborative problem framing, task coordination, and model development in a time-constrained national competition. The experience strengthened my interest in using quantitative models to interpret complex problems and informs my exploration of data-driven chemistry.
